Why S-Boogie stayed up until 10 pm watching a Law & Order episode about a dead baby

I think that tonight I hit the wall. I just couldn't do it any more; I put her bed as usual around 8 but then she woke up crying about 9, so we came and sat on the couch for an hour. I just couldn't summon up the energy to go and do what it takes to get her back into bed. And all that involves is rocking in a chair with her in the dark, but it didn't happen. Sad. The really sad thing is, she's not tired tonight because she slept for most of the day because I couldn't deal with her being sick. Mommy can't deal with life=extra nap time for S-Boogie. I really need to get myself together...

Eh, you're great. Everyone gets cranky when the baby is sick.

For example (an example taken from my own life), you could have a sick baby sharing a room with four other of your children, and the baby could spend all night barfing, and the other kids could not get any sleep either.

It's not pretty.

I have a problem when it comes to buying shoes. Well, it's actually a problem with buying clothing in general. I'm cheap. Very cheap. I tend to have arbitrary price limits in my head and refuse to buy anything that costs more than that. This does come in handy considering our limited funds for things like clothing and shoes, but it also means that I tend to have a wardrobe of odd, non-matching, ill-fitting clothes. While it's true that I have found some great things at thrift stores and on clearance, I definitely have other clothes that are just plain lame. Living with ideals

The first thing on my agenda in Davis was a lunch with some of the current graduate students. One of them asked me a question about my last name and my heritage, to which I replied that it was my husband's last name. That got me some fairly strange looks. Then there was the fact that I didn't order coffee after lunch with all of them. And then there was the awkwardness (more than once during the last few days) of trying to explain why I lived in Spain for over a year and didn't see any movies, go to any plays, or study at the university. Oh, and the fact that I don't drink wine and even though I'm not quite thirty I have been married for almost seven years and have two kids. Man, I am such a weirdo. I lived in Utah for so long that I became very comfortable in not having people think some of the things I do are strange.
