Saturday Check In

I meant to get another post or two in at some point during this week, but obviously that didn't happen. It's hard to believe that an entire week has gone by since I last wrote. Time sure flies fast around here. This week was actually pretty uneventful, which is always a good thing. Work was moderately stressful since we had five brand-new people start this week; thankfully we had everything in place for training and they all seem like good, competent workers. As far as my goal of getting more exercise during the work day (from last week), I didn't do such a great job of accomplishing that but I will try again next week. I did go to the temple Tuesday morning since I was a bit ahead on hours and that helped me feel better about a lot of things. Here's the update on how I'm doing right now:

Physical: Generally feeling good, just tired. I heard back from the doctor's office that all my tests were normal, including my thyroid levels and blood iron. That means that any fatigue I feel is just from not getting enough sleep and not anything seriously wrong with me. It's been extra cold all week and my feet have been freezing for the last few days. They are always colder than the rest of me.

Emotional: Tuesday was a stressful day and I felt tired and worn out when I got home so I made blueberry pancakes for dinner and put the kids in bed early. The rest of the days this week were just fine and I've felt pretty happy most of the time. This morning the kids had several things to do and places to be and I was a bit stressed and yelled a bit too much; hopefully we'll have a better day tomorrow.

Spiritually: I did go to the temple this week and I have been making a greater effort to read my scriptures, although not always succeeding with that. I still feel a bit flat spiritually and should work on improving that.

This week's commitment: Be in bed with the light off by 10:30 for at least 4 of the nights this week.

Hi, I am a random stranger who has looked at your blog from time to time from Segullah. I kept reading today because I am going through the same "go to bed ontime" struggles that you are, though I think mine are because I'm angry that I was "forced" (by God, lol) to move across the country this year. Anyway, I saw your comment about your thyroid test being normal & your cold hands & feet. I wanted to make sure you know that the "normal" range for thyroid is HUGE. Something like a TSH of .7 to 4.6. It used to be even bigger, up to 6 or 7, I think, and I know (from personal experience) that some labs and some doctors are still using the old normal range. I've done a lot of reading about thyroid and I personally feel that if my TSH was above 2 or 2.5 I would politely demand some experimental thyroid medicine supplementation. I feel *much* better if my TSH is very close to 1. My daughter also had some serious relief of fatigue when her doctor prescribed a low dose of synthroid even though her blood test results looked pretty good. Good luck with it all, including the bedtime thing!

Thanks for the tip Cindy. I'll see if I can find out what the specific numbers were.
