So many questions

What is it that compels me to call my child things like "Mr. Man" or "Hungry Bug"? And why do we have to say these things in such a cutsie little voice?

Also, why has my baby been possessed by demons sometime during the last 48 hours and will not stop screaming?

When I was around my nieces and nephews recently I took to calling the babies "bubba". I don't know what it is...

We call Ethan 'baby boy' and Savannah 'baby girl'. SO original, I know.

I hope the screaming stops soon. I always think my kids are screaming just to irritate me and then it turns out they have ear infections or are starving to death or something horrible, and then I feel really bad.

I call my baby Peanut so often that sometimes I wonder if people overhearing me in public think that's his real name.

As to the screaming baby, I really can't offer advice, but I do feel for you. I hope he starts feeling better soon so you can maintain your sanity.

Debate 2008

One of the features of our new apartment is a working garbage disposal. It's been a few years since we've had one, and Mr. Fob and I are suddenly discovering a new source of marital conflict. According to Mr. Fob, movies and television have taught him that you should never stick your hand in the garbage disposal, even if it is turned off. I prefer to rely on common sense and the fact that the off switch means "off" and stick my hand in to make sure no utensils are hiding before turning it on. Mr. Fob thinks I'm crazy. What do you think? Do you stick your hand in the garbage disposal or do you like to grind up your spoons and forks?
