Your Mom Wants to be a Millionaire
Actually, my mom wants to be a millionaire. Last month she got a chance to try out for the show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, and they called her up a few weeks later to ask her to come out for taping. Today was her special day, and it turned out to be mine too. She asked me to be her "phone a friend", which means I had to sign a bunch of legal agreements and spend most of today hanging out next to the phone. I just got off the phone with Meredith Vieira and my mom, and I can't tell you what we talked about. But I can tell you that I thought it was pretty cool and I hope I don't sound quite as goofy if I ever get on Jeopardy!. Talking on the phone is not my strong point. I can't remember the exact air date, but I know it's sometime in October and I'll let everyone know when we get a little closer.

How cool for your mom. This will finally be the thing that will get me to watch the show.
For most game shows you actually have to pay your own way for taping. I know that Jeopardy and Millionaire are like that.
The agreement was basically the standard permission to have my image/voice on TV. My mom is also not allowed to talk about the outcome until the show airs, and I can't say much about the question I helped with or the dollar amount. I only had 30 seconds to talk, so no Googling time. I did look up the answer after to confirm that I was right :)
For the record, your mother isn't the only one who wants to be a millionaire.
I once sat in the audience on Wheel of Fortune when they came to Hawaii- my friend and I turned in an application to be on the "Best Friends" episode. We never got on the show but got to be in the audience. The cameras filmed the audience members several times but they never did give us an exact date when it aired so I never did see it :( Not that it was the highlight of my performing career or anything :)
