Today at the doctor's office

I have gained 4 pounds in the last 4 weeks. This is a good thing. My blood pressure is also fine and baby has a nice strong heartbeat. And we scheduled an ultrasound for next Wednesday afternoon so we can stop calling the baby "it" (hopefully).

And the doctor gave me a different vitamin that includes a stool softener. I have spent the last 20 weeks in mortal fear of going to the bathroom, so I'm hoping this makes my life easier.

I never thought I'd read the words "stool softener" today.

Funny what happens to you in the blog world.

How come you've been afraid to poop?

In my first Pregnancy I was afraid to, cuz even though I know better, I was afraid to push the baby out...

Apparently pregnancy slows down the entire digestive process so your body can squeeze maximum nutrition from everything you eat. Some people notice this more than others. I've always had a tendency toward constipation, and it really gets me bad while I'm pregnant. Plus, prenatal vitamins have tons of extra iron, which tends to plug things up too. With Sophie it went away after the first trimester, but this hasn't been getting any better. I've been eating lots of extra fiber, but it doesn't do much. Hence, the new treatment. Hopefully it will work.

And, TB, I'm so glad I could make your day better :)

Mandi--I am actually surprised that the baby hasn't popped out yet, considering some of the struggles I've had at times, LOL
