Top 10 Photos of 2005

OK, these aren't really in any special order, but I wanted to show off my personal top 10 list for 2005:


#1 and #2: Within the short span of just one year, S-Boogie decided to grow hair and now looks much more like a real girl.


#3: Due to sudden, massive plumbing failure in our old place, we got to move a few doors down to an apartment that did not have brown walls, brown carpet, or brown curtains.


#4 Master Fob finished his thesis and became a master, giving me hope that it can be done.


#5 Two weeks in Hawaii, during which S-Boogie made good use of her cute pink swimming suit.


#6 S-Boogie turned 2 and we celebrated with a fabulous party at her favorite place, the Scera Park pool.


#7 We became very, very grateful for good health insurance after 2 seperate hospital stays for breathing troubles. S-Boogie was diagnosed with asthma and now we give her medicine every day that seems to be helping quite a bit.


#8 Master Fob, S-Boogie and the redwood trees. We enjoyed a visit to San Francisco and spent lots of fun time with Th, Lady Steed, and the Big O.


#9: The best Halloween costume ever: S for Supergirl (and S-Boogie)

One of the features of our new apartment is a working garbage disposal. It's been a few years since we've had one, and Mr. Fob and I are suddenly discovering a new source of marital conflict. According to Mr. Fob, movies and television have taught him that you should never stick your hand in the garbage disposal, even if it is turned off. I prefer to rely on common sense and the fact that the off switch means "off" and stick my hand in to make sure no utensils are hiding before turning it on. Mr. Fob thinks I'm crazy. Happy, Happy Blog-day Foxy Dear

Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of my blog. I had no idea where my life would go when I started this blog, and it's fun for me to read back through the archives and remember feelings and events that I have already forgotten. I think the most surprising thing about blogging that I have discovered is the sense of community. I have about fifty blogs that I follow somewhat regularly; many of them are people I haven't ever met in person. I still consider them to be my friends. I've been very grateful for all the virtual support I've received from so many people who don't really even "know" me. Miss Nemesis recently celebrated her blog's special day by asking lurkers to come out of the woodwork and reveal who they were and how they found her blog. She got 52 comments. If you want to make my day, see if you can top her numbers. Maybe then I can change my blognym to "Queen of the Universe".

Coming Out in Public

A little over 6 years ago I was on my mission in Madrid. I was transferred to new area at the same time as another elder. I remember asking him if was really from Hawaii, since he was so tall and blonde. We ended up serving together in the same district for nearly seven and a half months and had a lot of good times together. He was actually nice to the sisters and a hard worker, without being too zealous and overbearing. I knew he was going home just a month before me and planning on being an English major when he got back to BYU. When I was transferred out of that area, we exchanged emails and addresses and promised to get back in touch some day, like I did with a lot of other missionaries. I got home in January and started trying to contact some of the people I'd been friends with back in the mission.
