Christmas Meme
Is it just me, or are you all looking at the calendar and saying "holy crap, it's almost Christmas!" too? Thanksgiving is so late this year that I feel like December is creeping up on me. My mom sent this meme to me through email so I thought I'd put it on my blog:
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Bags, because I'm terrible at wrapping
2. Real tree or artificial? Definitely real for the feel and smell
3. When do you put up the tree? Whenever we have time; depends on our vacation plans
4. When do you take the tree down? We've been trying to leave it up through Jan 6 (Three Kings Day), but that depends on when we get it. It usually needs to stay up through January 1
5. Do you like eggnog? It's OK--I like eggnog ice cream best.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmmm, hard to remember just one specific gift. I liked getting a bike and I remember getting My Little Ponies at various times.
7. Do you have a nativity scene? Two: a small one I bought at the BYU bookstore when we were first married and a bigger one made with carved wood that I bought in Hawaii at the swap meet
8. Hardest person to buy for? Everyone--I'm terrible at picking gifts
9. Easiest person to buy for? My kids.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I definitely prefer getting them in the mail and we like mailing ours out as well. I love displaying them all month and saving them.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Probably morning sickness. When I was pregnant with S-Boogie I felt the worst during Christmas. I was tired, grumpy, and didn't want to eat any fun treats or traditional foods like roast beef.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I like The Preacher's Wife with Whitney Houston, and A Christmas Story of course. And we always watched White Christmas and Holiday Inn when I was growing up.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Umm, I try and spend as little time Christmas shopping as possible and usually try to get it done in early December.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Not that I can remember
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Gingerbread cookies, cranberry bread, candy canes, fudge
16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? I love colored lights
17.Favorite Christmas song? I love "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" because it's somewhat unusual and I love singing "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" and "Angels We Have Heard on High", and I generally like most Christmas songs except for "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth"
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I like to stay home
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? We have a silver star
21. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Just the commercialism and the advertisers all telling me that I have to buy stuff for people to tell them I love them.
22. Favorite ornament theme or color? We have an eclectic tree, and I like eclectic trees with personal ornaments. We've started collecting ornaments as souvenirs from places we've visited or lived
23. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Ham
24. Do you have Jesus in your heart this Christmas? I hope so
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? A chance to walk on the beach. And some tasty chocolate. Sleeping in one morning would be awesome too.
